Help for teaching

This is some information for teachers of Kariyarra

The Teaching Resources for Picture-Talk classes, and are designed to help teachers with the language to be used with a set of pictures that you will need to assemble yourselves.

For example, to start with you will need a picture of a man, a woman, a girl and a boy. Then you will need pictures of a bird, a dog, a kangaroo and a fish (or other animals, but 4 different ones) and then of a house, canoe, fire and tree (or other objects) etc.

They are very useful as a way to start to learn to put words together to make phrases and sentences using a method based on Accelerated Second Language Acquisition (ASLA) teaching methodology developed by Stephen Neyooxet Greymorning.

However, if you are planning to use this method, you will probably need to attend a workshop on the method if you have not already done so. It is a great way of learning to put sentences together, but you do need to understand the system properly to use it well.

Once you ahve some skill in this approach, you can use the website to create pages around lessons you want to give. When you write words in Bundjalung the web will automatically link the sound to the word for you, so that your page on the site will provide the audio (where it exist) for the words you are teaching.
